Today it was hammering down and the freezing level is at 2400m!!! This
meant that none of the links were open to the other valleys (Meribel and
Courchavel) and all the top slopes were closed due to avalanche risks. As
a result the lower slopes were very crowded, very slushy and very wet.
Got soaked to the skin by mid afternoon and had severe cramps due to
muscles locking up to try to compensate for the play in my bindings. Went
shopping and invested in a new pair of Burton Hail boots and Burton
Strap-In bindings. Was amazed at how comfortable modern boots are but
didn't have time to try the binding by the time I'd got them fitted. Can't
wait till tomorrow.
